Insurance is a policy; it’s a contract; it’s a piece of paper, literally, that says that given a certain situation, an insurer will pay out to cover the costs, for as long as you pay him, on a regular basis, a small fee. And it’s a bet. Every time you pay the insurer, it’s a bet that you actually will get into an accident, and will need to exercise those car insurance privileges and even rights. So what’s to do about all this? Well, firstly, you have to figure out what your driving situation is. That’s first and foremost. People like to get caught up in statistics and the technicality of things. Or worse yet, people don’t like to think about this sort of thing at all. They believe that insurance policies aren’t “worth it,” because they’re cheap products. Well, they’re cheap for a few reasons, so that’s not a good reason to not think about it.
